International Camps

British Isles Summer Camp 2018

Description

This International Youth Camp for older children and teens from the United Kingdom, other European nations and further afield, will once again be held at The Peak Centre in Edale, Derbyshire, England (see http://www.peakcentre.org.uk/). The centre offers self-contained bunk-bed accommodation for a community of up to 40 or more campers and staff.

Edale, set in a scenic valley surrounded by hills, lies within the Peak District National Park. Manchester International Airport (MAN), around 30 miles from the centre, has good bus and train connections to the Edale area.

Facilities will allow campers and staff to create an integrated community for all activities, meals and associated housekeeping opportunities. Activities will be arranged both indoors and outdoors, including some away from the centre—such as hiking in the hills of the national park.

While camp’s primary target age-range is the teen years, it also welcomes younger campers accompanied by a parent or older sibling. The older teens will be offered responsibilities in which they will interact with both adult staff and younger campers.

German Preteen Camp

The 2018 preteen summer camp in Germany will be held in Kreuzau from the July 29-Aug. 2.

Kreuzau is situated in the beautiful Eifel region just half an hour drive east of Belgium and the Netherlands. Parents and children aged 12 and under are warmly welcome to participate. Camp in Germany is a wonderful opportunity for children from at least three different countries to meet and strengthen their friendships that span country borders and language barriers.

The camp location contains family rooms and single rooms, as well as a large meeting hall and plenty of space outside for various sports activities. Daily Bible studies are planned, as well as team and character building activities. The main focus of the camp is to provide a solid godly foundation for the European youth as they strengthen friendships with each other.

The camp is tri-lingual, and visitors from English speaking countries are very welcome. The total cost per family is yet to be finalized but any enquiries about participation can be sent to Jako Kasper at jkasper1@gmx.net.

Camp Wildrose – Edmonton Area, Alberta, Canada

Camp Wildrose is a Canadian Youth Camp, located on a family farm west of Edmonton, Alberta. We welcome campers ages 5-15. We also encourage attendance from those ages 16-18 and regard them as junior volunteers. Junior volunteers are assigned responsibilities to teach them leadership and service skills, but are also provided with their own activity schedule.

Christian living lessons are a key component to each day’s schedule. Each year a theme is chosen to reflect our goals in building righteous character. We often focus on God’s creation and have built many lessons around Deuteronomy 23:14: “For the LORD your God walks in the midst of your camp . . . therefore your camp shall be holy.”

Camp Wildrose features many activities each year, including archery, canoeing, outdoor survival, various sports, arts and crafts, map reading or compass work, cooking, team building and field games.

Each evening ends in a fireside gathering with snacks and activities. Three highlights of our time together are the Friday evening family dance before sunset, church services and Bible activities on the Sabbath, and the family picnic complete with old-fashioned games on Sunday afternoon.

The unique thing about our camp is that entire families attend, from grandparents to little babies. Everyone helps out and does their part to make the camp a very special family experience. Our relationships and love grow stronger, as we work, play, learn and laugh together.

San Gil del Campo – Colombia

We encourage and invite you to come join us for another exciting year of United Youth Camps in Colombia! We will be returning to Hotel San Gil del Campo, located in San Gil, Santander, Colombia, between Bucaramanga and Bogotá.

Cost and Transportation

The cost of the camp will run U.S. $250 per person, which does not include airfare and transportation to and from the camp. Arrival from international areas by airline is possible through the El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá. There is no tuition fee for staff. Partial scholarship for staff airfare may be available.

Ages

Ages for campers are 12-18 years old. Adults who are at least 18 years old and graduated from high school are encouraged to apply as staff. We are looking for mature, energetic and engaging staff members whose priority is serving the campers. This camp is for bilingual or Spanish-speaking only attendees.

Activities and dorm life

Last year, we had an attendance of 16 campers from Colombia and Venezuela. Our days were kept full with a full array of activities, including Bible discussions or Christian living classes, swimming, Frisbee football, capture the flag, dance class and a dance, amazing race, a visit to Cascadas de Juan Curí, Bible skits, plus plenty of free time to relax and fellowship, including the sought after “mid-afternoon siesta.”

This year we plan to have many of the same activities. Since our focus at camp is building lifelong relationships with God and each other, each day will include an interactive compass check. Additional question-and-answer sessions (focusing on biblical and Christian living topics) will also be offered during camp. Along with several fun and challenging activities, extra time for fellowshipping and relaxing is added to make this camp experience a treat. Free time to enjoy talking with friends, old and new, is one of Colombia’s experiences that lasts a lifetime.

If you are interested in attending this small but intimate camp in the inviting country of Colombia, please contact Scott and Gayle Hoefker at scott_hoefker@ucg.org or give them a call.
