Details Everyone Needs to Know

Details Everyone Needs to Know

Dorms & Campers

  • Campers should address older staff by Mr., Mrs. or Miss (last name); younger staff by Mr., Mrs. or Miss (first name).
  • Campers will need to wear camp-issued UYC T-shirts for activities every day. Laundry will be done in order to make this possible. The lead counselors will decide which colors to wear each day.
  • Campers MUST be accompanied by at least one "buddy" or by a staff member when moving around camp and when they are not with their dorm.
  • If conducted, dorm inspections are held in the first afternoon block every day (1:30 - 2:30 p.m.).
  • Eat breakfast as a dorm. All other meals campers can sit where they would like.
  • The two dorms scheduled for kitchen duty (every meal) should go through the line first.
  • Evening activities: there will be a variety of (but not all) activities available for camper choice during some evenings. Campers will need to sign up so that staff can know where to find them.

Staff

  • Staff curfew is at 11:30 p.m. Fellowship between 10-11:30 p.m. should be limited to the LogBuilding.
  • Staff shirts: wear the specified color as often as possible; required on Sundays.
  • Counselors: you may take off one (1) activity block (maybe during evening activity time). If possible, this should not be during water activities, Bible class, or the Amazing Race.
  • Activity staff: you will have blocks that you are not scheduled. Make sure you try to use these as "down times" because we will also need you on occasional evenings to oversee your activities. Evening campfire and christian living is required for staff, as well as for campers.

Calling all teens to Camp Cotubic!

Camp Cotubic is located on 150 serene acres of fields and trees and includes a beautiful 14-acre lake for exciting water activities. It is located near Bellefontaine, Ohio, approximately 60 miles northwest of Columbus and about 60 miles northeast of Dayton.

Dorm Life and Spiritual Activities

Dorms are formed by age range, giving campers the opportunity to build positive and lasting relationships with other teens their age who are also looking to follow God in their lives. Each unit will have counselors that serve to guide the dorm in a positive direction, helping the campers develop meaningful relationships inside and outside of the dorm. Counselors promote fun and teamwork while maintaining the priority of helping campers build a deeper relationship with the Father and Jesus Christ. All of this will be accomplished through daily activities that include sports, team building, Christian living, campfire, dorm time, dances and other activities. The week at Camp Cotubic will conclude with a wonderful Sabbath rest, a nice semi-formal banquet and an evening dance. All campers will be sleeping on bunk beds with mattresses and will need to bring their own bedding (sheets/blanket or sleeping bag), as well as their own pillow and towels.

Arrival/Departure: Staff should plan to arrive at Camp Cotubic Saturday evening, June 22, at 6:45 p.m. Campers should plan their arrival between 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, and departure no later than 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 30.

Arrival by airline is possible through the John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH), and we can arrange no-cost transportation between Camp Cotubic and the airport if flights are scheduled within the suggested time frames.

Joshua Creech, Camp Director
