Camp Buckeye

Camp Buckeye 2024

We've moved! After 12 years at Camp Luz, we are moving to the 220+ acre Camp Lazarus Boy Scout camp in Delaware, Ohio, just north of Columbus, Ohio. This move was necessary because we have outgrown the Camp Luz facility and they were no longer going to allow us to prepare our own food. Camp Lazarus has a dining hall capacity of 250 and will also enable us to offer some new activities, such as a creek walk, nature hike and a BB gun range.

Camp Buckeye will still begin on the last Sunday in July and our goal remains focused on providing children ages 6-12 with an environment that focuses on living God's way. We strive to make a positive difference in their lives and encourage them to value time together with other children who are also striving to live God's way of life. The camper dorms will be grouped according to age.

Since we have a new facility we are working out the program of activities, but we still plan to offer archery, arts and crafts, fishing, field games and swimmming. Some new activities will be BB gun target shooting, creek walk, nature hike, team building and/or obstacle course. The daily Christian living lessons will focus around the overall UYC theme of "Stand Strong" and illustrate how even at their young age, God will help them battle against the pressures of the world in which they live.

We are always looking for volunteer staff who have patience and a strong desire to provide the safe atmosphere that we call "the Zone," which is critically important to the success of the program.
