Welcome to Preteen Camp Ironwood in 2017!
Sunday, July 16th through Wednesday, July 19th
Preteen Camp Ironwood in Southeastern Minnesota warmly welcomes campers (ages 5-13) to experience four days and three nights of fun-filled activities in a positive, loving and caring environment. Camp Ironwood takes place in the spectacular outdoor setting of Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch. The theme of this year’s camp will be “Our Awesome God and His Creation”.
Camp activities are designed to enrich children both spiritually and physically by experiencing a camp atmosphere in a nurturing and caring family environment. Our goal is to enrich the children’s relationship with God and with other young people and adults. Activities include daily Christian living and music classes, a zip line, swimming, horseback riding, field games, team challenge, the climbing wall, arts & crafts, archery/BB guns, slingshot, creek walk, mini farm animals and campus improvement. Fun-filled evening activities include game night, campfire sing-along, novelty olympics, a carnival and treasure hunt. It’s a busy four days, but full of memories to take home and remember for years to come.
Camp Ironwood encourages teens to come and serve as assistant counselors and activity staff. Many teens attended the camp as campers and now return as staff to give back to the preteens the experience they enjoyed. The teens work hard during the day and in the evening enjoy teen activities, which gives them the opportunity to enjoy each other’s company. The teens also start their day off with their own Christian living and music classes.
Camp Ironwood also greatly appreciates the contributions of the dedicated and self-sacrificing parents who give up vacation time to serve as counselors, activity coordinators, lifeguards and first aid nurses. Adults also serve as "dorm dads and moms" who visit the dorms each evening for a short talk and prayer -- and eat with the campers on a special evening family dinner on the last night of camp. We welcome and encourage both teens and parents to consider serving this year!
Camp Ironwood has a tradition for creating a caring family atmosphere. Not only do the activity staff strive to make sure each camper participates and enjoys the activity, but teen staff are the “big sisters and big brothers” dropping in on their dorm's activities and lunches.
Parents who come to serve and have a camper or teen coming to the camp, -- may bring the younger sibling (ages 2-5), who can participate in daytime mini dorm activities. Parents with a 5-year old child, may make the decision for them to be a camper and participate fully in camper activities (and stay overnight in the dorm with other campers) or the 5-year old may be part of the day time mini dorm. Chidren in the mini dorm are the responsibility of the parent and stay overnight with the parent.
